Microsoft Windows Updates Are Beneficial

Microsoft believes its updates are beneficial amid user contention.

Microsoft Corporation has rolled out Windows 10 but there is one thing that annoys a lot of people is the frequent updates that need to be installed by users regularly. The issue is that there is not much control on the packages that a user will receive. It is actually a point of immense concern since thousands of Microsoft users have actually written petitions to the chief executive officer of the company Mr. Satya Nadella to modify the practice for updates regarding the Windows 10. The “cumulative updates” also encompass all those updates that have been revealed for Windows 10 that are being used by consumers. Users at this point want to have the power to control the things being added to their systems. They also want to know what might happen if they cannot install an update that breaks out the key functionality. Joe Belfiore who is the vice president of the company’s corporate Operating Systems Group mentioned in an interview that MSFT believes that by giving out cumulative updates is a relatively better model than giving permission to users and IT managers to decide what patches they wish to install. His analysis was incompliance with the verdict given by IT Managers on this matter. Mr. Belfiore stated: “We’ve involved a lot of companies and real-world IT management organizations in talking through the implications ... and our feeling talking with them is that the net result that you get is better.” He further added, “We’ve seen lots of examples of situations where end users experienced lower reliability or unpredictable system performance because of a relatively untested combination of updates. So our net intent is to improve the quality overall, for everybody. And we believe that this method will deliver that.” The ease for Microsoft is that by providing cumulative updates the company can experiment and test the new updates they roll out. This makes it extremely effective since they know what has been installed on the top instead of being concerned about the variant versions of Windows having distinct capabilities. Moreover, it is great for developers since they can build applications with ease through cumulative updates. The reasons why users are not really content with these updates is that most of the times they are not even targeted to them. Moreover, in case of a bug the system tends to slow down. Microsoft needs to find a solution since a petition by thousand users is alarming.
